I really am becoming an old man.

Lately I've noticed myself getting disoriented coming out of stores wandering the parking lot trying to figure out where I parked. I'll wander and wander trying to remember where and it all looks foreign to me. I have to use the little clicker to find where I parked if I'm in range enough to use it.

My driving at night is worsening once again. Oncoming traffic the headlights are very bright to me and the glare is very bad making it hard for me to see the lines on the road. Just headlights not tail lights and only at night with oncoming traffic. It's even harder when it rains at night to see because of the headlight problem. I refuse to give up driving because I need to get to work and get around. I have no problem in the daylight but with winter and shorter daylight I worry.

Yesterday I ordered pizza and I went to go pick up the order. I thought I called and ordered from a certain location and upon arrival I confused the poor kid behind the counter. I said I was here to pick up an order under my name and he told me they didn't have one under that name was it perhaps under another. I said no and told him what my order consisted of. He told me it wasn't here which is when it dawned on me it must have been the other location near my house I called. Embarrassed I politely excused myself while saying sorry to this poor kid who most likely was thinking stupid old man. I drive over to the other location and there it was my order. This is the first time I've made this mistake. I felt like an idiot and that poor kid had to deal with my stupidity and confusion.

Although some of this might be age related, new medication can throw you off. And stress. The first suspect is stress because that is the greatest “interference” in the thinking process. If it’s not stress, there are new medications that can slow the loss of memory which comes from calcium like deposits hardening in the brain. Any how… I’m not a doctor. But get an MRI, have your brain scanned. So that as the years go by you can measure any changes.

maybe it is a case you need too try and be a little more mentally focused.than have you mind concentrated on say the shopping you are about to do . just deal with each situation as in order and not let your mind wander away[deepblacknothingness] .

You might want to have your eyes checked for cataracts.
Preoccupation could be the reason for absent mindedness in the parking lot.
Maybe talking to a doctor if these things are really bothering you.

I think the diminishing night vision is normal, but this amount of mental confusion sounds like a bit much if your age is what your profile says. Have you talked with a doctor?
Ay well at least your car runs and you have money to get pizza 😃 it sucks tho to have diminished abilities to do things.. but it happens as some grow older.. unfortunately..

The confusion is because our heads are full of important stuff and the headlights are brighter

You may have to stop driving to keep you and other civilians safe. I'm sorry
