Instead of a support animal

There should be support friends.

You know..they simply help you get motivated...help keep you going...assist with chores and give you pep talks.

Yes.....

This is the way.

So ironic seeing this! So someone in my neighborhood posted in the NextDoor app yesterday - looking for someone to just come keep them company for the day - hoping it would motivate them to take care of tasks they’ve been avoiding. They weren’t asking for help with the tasks…just some company. The amount of responses blew me away! So now my neighborhood is creating a subgroup for this exact thing. Someone commented that it’s technically referred to as “body doubling” - just asking someone to be there while you complete tasks. It’s especially recommended for folks with ADHD.

I need a permanent body double I think to hold me accountable. Lol

@Ynotjenn Yes. I had forgotten that term and apparently people like me with ADHD and other such issues....tend to do better with someone just present while they do the stuff. I think it is true because i absolutely used to have my friends over while i cleaned and they just sat and we used to laugh about it.

Body doubling. I try to get my son to do it with me. Like...lets do our homework together...but he is a teen and it isn't cool to hang with mom. 🤣
