Shame on you Bette Midler

So many mamas can't breast feed for multiple reasons, many mamas struggle to produce enough milk to provide their babies with enough to provide them the right amount of nutrition.

Some babies cant latch and some mamas have work commitments that dont allow mamas to pump.

Sone mamas have to stop breastfeeding due to mental Health issues.

Some mamas have to stop breastfeeding because mediciation they are on to save their lives isnt safe for their babies.

This formula shortage is hard on all us formula fed mamas. The panic when you are down to your last few cans and your not sure when you are going to be able to get another can. Especially when your baby is on a special formula for whatever reason, and for someone to say just breastfeed its hurt and wrong.

Just because we cant breastfeed doesnt mean we are less of a mother and it doesnt mean we arent panicking.

For someone to say something to cruel and dismissive its wrong.

Shame on you Miss Midler.
It’s sad coming from a woman, isn’t it? 😕
@JaggedLittlePill I haven’t seen the interview, and sometimes it’s taken out of context, so maybe she didn’t mean it.

But you n me and every mother knows the number of challenges we face with breastfeeding.

I had stitches down there, and I couldn’t go to work immediately after 2 weeks. I had to pump my milk many times due to my healing stitches when I couldn’t sit and hold my baby. Later when I went to work full time, I had to pump my breastmilk while my mom looked after my son. We had to depend on baby formula sometimes due to circumstances.

@Vivaci I wanted to think she was being ironic. This was a tweet she made. I have not seen her make any comment since, but I havent looked. ...I cant be sure and either way it doesnt look good. She is usually so smart. ...

I had a struggle breastfeeding my son. I thought it was all my fault and i was devastated. I did not learn until i took my son to his first dentist appointment that he was tongue tied and this likely was the entire reason he couldnt latch and NO ONE ever suggested it. Not even a lactation cosultant or nurse. I lost out on bf him.
@JaggedLittlePill I’m with you on that. What it looks like from her twitter feed is that she’s responding to the Question:
Name another industry/sector/product like this.
She’s a very sensitive and sensible woman overall.

Oh no!!! So much time was lost becoz you didn’t receive the right guidance from your midwife/other experts around you…wtf! 😠 I’m sorry sweetheart…the struggle is real.

She should shut tf up. She had one child and was a multi millionaire when she became a mom so she probably never had to much of anything when it comes to being a real mom. Prolly had the best of the best breast pumps. She’s never tried to nurse multiples and likely never had to nurse through an infection in the glands.

So my friend in the Philippines says that women have to breast feed as they can't afford the formulae and the water may be contaminated. But if a woman can't breast feed they can use a rice concoction. Worst case the baby starves.

@Tastyfrzz when commercial sales of formulas were being promoted in 3rd world countries babies were getting sick from contaminated water. But these formula companies were rewarding doctors here in the USA with baby scales and other pieces of equipment to be used in their practice so never mind. They convinced a lot of women that measuring out the amount of formula was more scientific than breast-feeding because you can’t measure breast milk when you feed naturally, only if you feed from a bottle after pumping the milk and that’s a lot of work to pump it and reheat it. I think women thought might as well use convenient formula. Then they turned to the 3rd world companies and even if only a fraction of the women bottle-fed their babies it would make big profits because of the size of their populations.

At first that sounds like a great solution. But if you stop to think for ten seconds.... eh well...

I guess she wasn't thinking
Cent percent true .She should take her words back .

@Caleidoscope What about her right to free speech?
@Wol62 That's the problem with freedom of speech.Ppl should know the limits .
The fame has gone to her head! She doesn’t have a clue what reality is for other people.

Then go tell her that. Posting it on here won’t make a difference.

@MrBrownstone Exactly my point.

@RedBaron Why use social media?

@MrBrownstone Good question.

Perfectly stated
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
My ex ( my son's mom) did breast feeding for about a week then quit because it interrupted her sleep so I had to take over feeding him formulae. I kept the cans and used them as boxes for Christmas cookies.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
while that’s true I’ve known many who wouldn’t even attempt to try it and they didn’t have to work a job so they could be at home with their baby to do it.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
She’s very opinionated and puts her foot in her mouth sometimes .
CestManan · 46-50, F
Is Bette Midler even still a thing
Wol62 · 51-55, M
@CestManan Only on SWs.

It only shows her intelligence or lack thereof

She should try shutting up. It’s free.

She’s ridiculous.

@SpiritualMan I don’t like her or most of the crap she spouts but why don’t more at least try to breast feed? It’s the most natural way to feed a baby. If the mothers have time to spend at home (not working a job) maybe they should try rather than have to stress out about where to find formula.
