Texas looking to mandate the national anthem at publicly funded events

What do ya'll think? First amendment violation or no?

Seems like it is. But it's only at publically funded ones so I dunno.

Not really since it is only public funded events. Just ignorant circle jerking when your state can't even keep the lights on. Priorities.

@MalteseFalconPunch @MalteseFalconPunch [quote] Well its events that receive any public funding at all. Even if it's a private entity putting on the event.

Same difference for the sake of arguement. That's a trivial difference IMHO. If anything it I feel even less conflicted about it pertaining to publicly funded private events. Acknowledge who helped "pull them up by their bootstraps". Really it would come down to what the effected public felt about it that pays the taxes that makes up the public funds to make an ethical judgement on it.
Do I feel it violates freedom of speech though? No.

Freedom of religion possibly but I don't believe religious groups should be given any public funding to begin with unless they choose to opperate a service as a seperate and secular service project.

@MalteseFalconPunch The law isn't actually compelling anyone as I see it. It's just making public funding a propaganda for hire work program.

@MalteseFalconPunch You choose to seek public funds for your private group/event. You're making your group/event part of the governmental public system in an abstract way.

Public funding isn't really the place for protest anyway imho. I see that as an unecessary headache and way too problematic.

@MalteseFalconPunch If you can give me a reasonable answer on why sports teams are publicly funded please do because I can't find one. They make diagusting amounts of money providing the most trivial product imaginable.
