Texas looking to mandate the national anthem at publicly funded events

What do ya'll think? First amendment violation or no?

Seems like it is. But it's only at publically funded ones so I dunno.

Texas needs to relax. They have a lot bigger issues on their hands than whether or not some obese rednecks drunkenly yell their worship chant of unending devotion to a country who doesn't care enough about them to supply them with healthcare at their sons' little league baseball game.

@BigAssLeech pfft , just stay out of texas . The national anthem should be played at publicly funded events . No one is being forced to attend .

@MalteseFalconPunch I would say so, yes. If the government was mandating that they play WAP at all public events the answer would be clear, but I guess because it's the national anthem, that blurs the lines to some people.

@MalteseFalconPunch it’s not ... they are free to stay home , kneel , or act like an ass . Playing the anthem in no way infringes on first amendment rights

@TexChik I was born there and have 0 intentions of ever going back unless I'm just passing through, so don't worry.

@TexChik Someone is being forced to play it, though. Someone is being forced to set up audio equipment, possibly hire a professional audio engineer if the venue is large, load it up, and play it. And for what? Because Sharon and Karen wanted to host an arts and crafts show?

@MalteseFalconPunch for tax payer funded events , yes
TexChik · F
@BigAssLeech forced ? No . Paid ? Yes

@TexChik Nobody is forgetting what country they live in when you go to a food festival or carnival or whatever else. I don't see the point. And who is enforcing this? Are there going to be armed officers at every public event, listening closely to whether or not the pledge of allegiance was played at some point or another? And then fining or detaining someone for not being patriotic enough, when they themselves are a tax payer? Logistically it makes no damn sense
TexChik · F
@BigAssLeech it makes complete sense , patriotism and respect for this country will go on in spite of you
BigAssLeech · 31-35, M
@TexChik Then make it make logistic, practical sense. Aside from, "America is the greatest county ever and we should all have Donald Trump Fleshlights in our closets."

@BigAssLeech damn lmao. Played.
TexChik · F
@BigAssLeech sorry but socialists arent the only Americans that vote
BigAssLeech · 31-35, M
@TexChik Exactly, you can't explain it in a way that makes sense outside of conditioned bootlicking.
