I Have Something to Say

I can't understand why Hispanics/Latinos view Asians as Chinese only. Not all Asians are Chinese! I'm a Hispanic/Latino and I don't think Asians are all Chinese.

As well as if you speak Spanish you are officially Mexican. I speak Spanish because my grandfather is from Spain, I hate when people mistake where I am from.

I didn't know that was a common misperception. One of my best friends is half Mexican, half Chinese, and she's also the best cook I know. No misunderstanding her own heritage.

@CalmUnderThePalm Crazy ain't it? I cannot imagine any adult not know that Japanese folks are Asians too. Or Koreans, or others from the Far East.

Not true.

However , there are many Americans who think all spanish speakers are Mexicans.

My cousin is a translator. Spanish and French. She's had such an interesting job.

Before I knew her, I never thought Spanish speaking people were only from Mexico. I can't imagine the culprit is anything but ignorance. Shouldn't ignorance be forgiven and replaced with education? @Underconstruction

Lol I think everyone thinks Asians are Chinese. It's like when people call Hondurans,brazilians, Mexicans.

I mean when someone sees a Honduran or Brazilian there like "oh just a mexican"

@ELGONZO Even some Asians think of Asians as Chinese. I have known Indians (from India) like that.

I’m pretty sure there are other Latinos who get that, too. Same way they deal with ignorant people who think everyone who is Latino is either Mexican on the West Coast, Puerto Rican on the East.
