I Have Something to Say

My uncle is getting out of prison next month. I'm really happy for him and I'm going to see him, I'm just afraid he'll be upset I haven't seen him since I turned eighteen two years ago.

I wanted to, but never learned how to get on the visitors list. And 2/3rds of the times my family went to visit him I wouldn't get let inside anyway.

Then I couldn't write or call him because I live with my mom, and she would kill me if she knew I had any contact with him 馃槄 (it was my dad who took me to see him)

Not that any of this is an excuse, I'd be upset in his shoes.

How long was he in...?

@contrails Since before I was born, I'm not completely sure. Maybe 23-25 years

@IntenseCookie what was he in for?

Wow. And why are you so happy to see him? You can't possibly *know* him... Although I think it's great he'll have someone "happy to see him", he's lucky that way... I will be hard to get back to "free" life of course...

@Summergirly He had a problem with hard drugs and I know he stole a car or two- they belonged to relatives though so I don't know if he got charged for that?

Then.. some other things >.>

@contrails I know him more than my other uncles, at least. But that's not saying much 馃槀 he just has a good presence, he's done his time and deserves to be out.

But yeah, I don't know what he's going to do now that he's leaving. I hope someone's taking him in- my dad was going to but he moved out of state :/

@IntenseCookie "Some other things"... Yep, no one gets 23 years for stealing a car... but good for you that you're cool with it, frankly I thing the #1 thing we would need to get back to "normal" life is trust/love of people "outside"... a very rare thing these days... particularly for someone who had been in jail for a long time, I guess...
