Christians are not bound by eating laws. If there are Christian eating laws they are not biblical.

@helenS eating fish on Fridays dates from a ruling probably 500 years ago to help the fishermen in England, I believe. It has no biblical or other religious background, although, I believe, Christ was allegedly responsible for the fish population in the lake in Israel. But, rlthebfishnare called St John's fish, we call them tilapia.

@samueltyler2 Thank you very much for clarifying this.

@helenS no problem my good friend. My Italian American friends eat 7 or more fishes on Christmas eve. There is some tradtion in S Italy to fast orbabstain from meat before a feast and then to break it with fish.

@samueltyler2 I would assume they think they are not allowed to eat meat on Friday, so they eat fish instead.

@helenS But there is no sacrifice being made if you love seafood.

@CANDAULISTHUSBAND Yes. They believe there’s a law “Thou shalt not eat meat on Good Friday” (or any Friday) and then they try to be smart and eat fish instead. This is true at least for some catholic Italians. It’s difficult to digest – pun intended.
