I Have Something to Say

I wish christians would learn the difference between evidence and propaganda. They claim they have solid evidence of their god but, when asked to produce it, they just spew out more propaganda.

They also seem to think self verification is valid - "the bible must be true because it says it is" - or employ circular logic - "god exists because the bible says so; the bible is god's word so must be true".

Some of us can see through all the deception but they also target impressionable young children. That is really beyond the pale.

the only evidence i can provide is a changed life the moment i believed..

@booboo Others have said much the same about their beliefs or lack of them. I can say my life changed for the better when I stopped believing in the christian god. Believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster might have had the same effect, there's no way of knowing it wouldn't have.

@suzie1960 all i know is that i was a drug user and an alcoholic until I confessed to the "christian God"..when i did, He took those desires away from me..and He continues to cleanse me and remove ungodly desires as His Spirit brings them to the surface of my life and i acknowledge them...i can take no credit for anything accept the simple acknowledgement of my weaknesses and sin, leaving all "change" in His hands..only those that realize they are sick, will go to the doctor...JS...

@booboo That's fine. As I said though, in my case my life improved after I got free from christianity. Another person's life might be turned around for the better after they start believing in Santa Claus. None of this proves the existence of mythical beings, only that a belief, however unfounded, can have an effect.

@suzie1960 there's a difference between Christianity and religion...i question the "Christianity" you escaped from was the real thing...i'm guessing it was manmade religion..IMHO
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo What is christianity if not a religion? It's easy to say its followers are not real christians but one can just as easily say that christians who tolerate other beliefs aren't real christians.

@suzie1960 is marriage a "religion"? is friendship with another a "religion"? Is love for your pet, your parents, your children, a "religion"? All these examples bring about change in our lives in one way or another all because of love..Christianity is God reaching down to man and changing him from the inside because He loves them...religion can't do that, only God can...
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo One could say the same about any religion, there's nothing special about christianity.
booboo · M
@suzie1960 hmmm, i beg to differ....
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo If you're a christian of course you'll think christianity is different from other religions. Followers of other religions think theirs is different too and that their beliefs are correct. From my point of view, as a former christian, I'm certain christianity has nothing to offer.
booboo · M
@suzie1960 sadly, you did not experience true christianity, for it is not a religion but a very personal relationship...i'm sorry you were deceived.. :(
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo Your definition of christianity is unique. What I experienced was christianity in its truest form.
booboo · M
@suzie1960 i question that...it's truest form is like being in love with your best friend who will never leave you no matter what...
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo I have to disagree. It's a religion of intolerance and founded on fear.
booboo · M
@suzie1960 then you haven't experienced the truest form...JS
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo No, I haven't experienced your form of christianity. It must be very rare, if not unique.
booboo · M
@suzie1960 it's so simple that most stumble over it...based on believing and confessing...that's all
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo Belief is the basis of all religions, christianity is no different in that respect.
booboo · M
@suzie1960 true, it's faith based..but Christianity says "believe in what God has already done..the finished work of Christ", not "what you yourself can/will do by follow the law"..
suzie1960 · 61-69, F
@booboo That presume one already believes, it's a belief based on a belief.
