I Have Something to Say
After the car crash, the young driver had thought his eyes opened. He had a resolve of steel to set out his own punishment. Even though the victims of the crash showered kindness upon him, he did not think that he was worthy of it. So, he called the police to the scene and turned himself in for his reckless actions. Sure enough, it landed him in jail. However, his request to the Prison Warden forced him to the courts.
In front of a judge, jury and his own family, they watched on with solemn eyes as he spoke; renouncing his name and family, proclaiming that he is deserving of nothing less of what he had requested of the Warden before - a life sentence of solitary confinement.
His family was shocked as the judge agreed to his request, their future visits repaid with an empty chair. He had wanted to see no-one, his shame for a mistake great, his need to the rid the world of himself was too high.
"I have committed a crime that had threatened the lives of others. While I have learned from this, even if this was an honest mistake on my part, what has happened once can happen again. The world will be a little bit safer with me rotting away in this cell. Do not bring me back to society; at least here I am a danger to no-one."
