Let's say you have 4k in savings... [I Ramble]

And you're going to use it to move away to another country and stay with someone while you get your life together.

But a relative knows you have that amount and they want to borrow it to buy their own stuff/pay bills.

Are you obligated to give it to them? Or is it okay to say, "No, that's my savings to move with."

* This is a serious question btw... 😥

I think that you should go ahead with your plan. I’m sure that you worked hard to earn that money and one thing I’ve learnt is that once you lend it, there’s no guarantee you’ll ever get it back. It sounds like your plan is really important for your mental health, so you shouldn’t sacrifice that just to make someone else happy. They will figure out how to do what they need to without your money. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@WanderingThrough I was just thinking about how loan shark interest rates really do reflect the true risk of loaning anyone money. It’s a high risk venture… even for a bank…. Let alone a person with no means of collection.
