@Gibbon I think I know what you mean. You can get sucked into games like that, especially when you're isolated socially or just introverted. I had a similar issue with games on Facebook about a decade ago (but those were designed to be as manipulative and addictive as possible so it's not quite the same). I hope he's recovered and made a life in reality for himself.

@KiwiDan I have no idea. I have been seen or heard from him in years. This would have been Warcraft 3 and battle.net that was around 2002 to begin with. He was definitely addicted. He was also a troubled kid. He often said he wished he could just crawl into the game and live there. He had a lot of conflict with his real dad.
