How far will a sincere apology go with you?

In general, will you accept it and move on the best you can or should they not even bother because you've already washed your hands of them?

I will listen to an apology for sure, depending on how sincere I will forgive but probably not forget.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@RebelRaven Ah, yes. Forgive but a fool to forget.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I'd give them a chance, but I'd watch what they do ,because that's the sincere apology.
exexec · 70-79, C
It depends. If it seems truly sincere, I will accept it and move on.
I'd move on but nonetheless the apology is definitely appreciated! Sometimes it's just nice to know that the person actually cares that they've harmed you or done you wrong in some way. I wouldn't forget that they did it and it certainly isn't a guarantee that I will continue to interact with them but it's so nice to see genuine remorse and accountability for harm done

You can forgive but never forget.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Lovelooking Agree! A wise man forgives; a foolish man forgives and forgets.
A sincere apology means everything.
Even if you can't move past what has been done, an apology is appreciated.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Mindfulness A sincere apology goes a very long way. As you say, even if the effects of the offense are with you always, an genuine apology from the heart can make a world of difference.
i will accept it. most people wont apologize to begin with, i definitely can respect someone who will humble themselves enough to apologize.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@ReptilianFromPlanetCrush Yes, as long as it is sincere. Simple lip service means nothing.

For the most part I ‘will be able to accept it. If I feel it’s sincere….thats the problem right there
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@InterdimensionalSideEye Agreed. Some are master actors, who wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the butt and gave them 2 black eyes.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
Far. Everyone makes mistakes.
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
A sincere apology down the road is always welcome, but more so for their closure instead of mine. I never need apologies. I’ve been given too many over the course of my life just for the behaviors tied to those apologies to continue to be shown, so sadly they mean very little to me. But if someone needs to say it for their own peace of mind, then I just play along so they can move forward…since I already have at that point.

@candycane Good. Even if only for your own peace of mind.
Picklebobble2 · 61-69, M
Depends on the cause and more importantly, the effects.

If it were caused by being thoughtless that's one thing.
If it were said/done maliciously. Game over I'm afraid.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@Picklebobble2 Yes, it does depend on intent and lasting effects. Some things you simply can't take back or repair.
BrandNewMan · 61-69, M
Depends on the nature of the incident. I tend to forgive and move on for general things.

Some things are serious enough that there won't be a second chance.

It goes a long way with me.
I try not to be prosecutor, judge and jury on people.
val70 · 56-60
Far. But then some people always want it be forgotten. That's the way to never apologize.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
It depends on the transgression, but generally, apologies are bullshit.
