How much does the government know about your political party preferences, political affiliations, etc.?

Well for one, if you are a union member of any kind you will automatically be labelled left wing (in Australia, Labor, or in the USA, Democrat).

If you work in a corporate world job especially engineering, or management, or high level finance or government, you will probably be automatically labeled right wing (in Australia, Liberal, or in the USA, Republican).

Most people who have an identified religion would probably also be labeled right wing aka neo-conservative.

Much information is inferred, not directly know, but enough inferences and you get a pretty accurate picture about someone for a specific topic or subject.

Just showing your ID and them putting a number on ballot tells them who your voting for.

Just look up your name in a web search. Some results even show your past phone numbers, e-mails used, addresses, political status, and more

I'm not kidding - go look. Some countries block or limit results, others give it right up for free. Some websites charge a few dollars for it.

But everything is on-line, nothing is private anymore - not even your bedroom life
