How long do boats last?

More specifically, if someone were to park a boat on a piece of dirt and use it like an apartment, would it fall apart after 10 years?
Some of those 50ft boats have very nice living spaces! Some go super cheap too!

If you take care of them they can last a long time

@UnderLockDown you still have to haul them tho or do they come with a trailer?
@GoFish It varies, I was just brainstorming a way to have my own hideaway. If I could get a good deal, including transportation/trailer, it would be way less expensive than renting.

@UnderLockDown yeah for sure .. some places you can get boats for free they just want to be rid of them
Fiberglass boats do break down, but it takes a really long time, decades. I would say if a boat is older than 50 years it might be suspect, but until then, its good. Big advantage having it out of the water since it will not be attacked by barnacles and water ingress. Steel or Aluminum boats probably last a lifetime.
You may need to redo the mounts on the deck every 5 years as the sealant will wear out and then it will leak into the cabin. Could build a roof over the top to prevent that.

Need to keep it in the water.
