What is the average salary for doctors in the United States during their first year? Why is it so much more than doctors in China or South Africa?

From what I've heard, doctors in China only make a few thousand a month. I also have a friend who is a doctor in South Africa. It is his first year, he averages $3,000 USD per month.

So I told him he should move to the USA because people here are making more than $3,000 right out of high school.

The wages are higher because the cost of living is higher. There's really no way around it. Even if someone could live in china and be a doctor in US, the time and gas it would take to get back n forth would far offset any possible advantage
