I lost 40 lbs at least four years ago and have kept it off. Go light on the carbs. Try to avoid sugar. Proteins are good, but keep the portions to 4-6oz.
That’s the mainstay to get you into calorie burn mode.
Also, initially it’s best to not cheat at all. You have to set goals and keep them regardless. It’s harder for women because of the body composition, but you should be able to lose 2lbs a week without issue.
After a month or so, it’s also good to work in some daily exercise. 15-30 minutes will help., just don’t over exert until you know you can handle it. Once you’re good you can ramp it up. Try some running or a treadmill or an elliptical.
