What’s a small thing you started doing that made your mental health noticeably better?

I need to know. My brain way too anxious

focus on the breathe. I know it's everywhere , I know everyone says it, but it totally fulfill the criteria of your question. It is a small thing. You can do it anywhere at any moment.
The idea is shifting your whole attention from whichever place , center it, bring it back. observe how the air feels when it enters your nostrils. observe how your belly raises. how the whole body moves. Just plain AIR lol

@being such a simple, easy thing but so effective.

@being That is the same way Tai Chi helps you distract from distractions and stress.

@ABCDEF7 I used to do that, but my wife gave up on it and I stopped. I liked it though.

@ABCDEF7 yes I love Tai Chi. Yet tai chi is something you do, just like many activities. Breathing...is there. If one is depleted of energy and motivation, breathe is still there with them..

But yes if one can put more energy, then I'd definitely recommend Tai Chi or Qigong...:)

@being Even when I was so mentally stressed that I was feeling dizziness, I could do simple random movements of hands, and concentrating at the movements reduced my stress.

@ABCDEF7 I guess it's all about being in the moment.
ABCDEF7 · M
@JimboSaturn Yes, into the moment of the reality, away from hallucinations of your mind.

@ABCDEF7 It's a personal thing. Since I've trained in China paradoxically, I've lost some of its beauty, in the sense that, I trained under stress. Mmmaybe you had something similar, a similar reaction to meditation, growing up and regarding your roots ? Just a guess and an assumption from my side, I know not much smart. I'm trying to point that ..if/ when we're "forced fed" certain things, they can turn into stress factors, even if they're supposedly relaxation techniques ..
For me, sometimes, just the idea of the art can stress me, if I am not in the right head space.

@being Yes, how you take a thing is very important. For me, many times writing a complex code can be joyful, while it can be stressful for some, or even for me at times.
