i was born into a Christian family and I take pride in my faithx

@hunkalove so pray tell me exactly which bunch of dudes founded the Hindu religion in which I'm an adherent? Nobody ever coerced me to part ways with my money. I donated out of free will. And you're neglecting all the charity and spiritual work done by numerous religious groups. As for the rules, they are guidelines for a civilized lifestyle. Because remember absolute freedom without constraints is not freedom at all.Kindly, Bhaavaa

Hunkalove, first of all as I mentioned before there's no agreement on what "religion" even means. Second I'd like to know where you got those statistics regarding Hitler and Stalin. Thirdly, people have been killing each other with every justification imaginable since the world began. Sometimes it's belief in a god or gods or karma, sometimes it's an ideology, sometimes it's "keeping the world safe". And finally, there are so many people whose faith motivates them to work for peace, to live lives of kindness and generosity. However you define religion, and much as I disagree with and even fear many things that are called that, I think the world would be poorer without it.

Religion is the most evil thing that has happened to this planet. It hurts everyone. Especially the religious.
I respectfully disagree Hunkalove. That is a very pessimistic view.
@Hunkalove I'm very touched by your kind gesture towards Lord Krishna. I'm very sorry if you find my tone condescending. Not at all my intention dear. I just pray(if you don't mind that) that eventually you will realize the beauty of religion. Lots of love and kisses from me Bhaavaa.😘
hunkalove · 70-79, M
You are ever so right, Mr.M. Religion was invented by a bunch of guys who want your money and the power to tell you what to do so they don't have to work for a living.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Bhaa, I admire the Hindu gods and keep an image of Krishna by my bed. But look around you at all the poverty, all the people dying in the streets, all the human suffering, and tell me religion is good!
Cinnamon · 31-35, F
newjane I'm a graduate student in the study of religion and it is really totally unclear what "religion" even means. There are valid reasons to call atheism one, as well as not to.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
No is is not a belief at all. Do you believe Santa Claus to not exist or do you just dismiss him as fictitious?
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Basically religion is faith in a belief you know couldn't possibly be true
hunkalove · 70-79, M
Voyelle, I am a Buddhist and I do not consider it a religion. Buddha was a human being who wanted to find the meaning of life and Buddhism is what he found. In the parts of the world where it is a religion, it's just as bad any other religion.

1. there's no proof that gods exist.
2. there's no proof that gods don't exist
3. there's no compelling necessity to postulate the existence of gods, and such a postulation explains nothing... it seeks to merely explain everything away
4. therefore I have no gods.

voyelle, can you find in there a claim that gods don't exist?
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
voyelle "there is no proof that god/s exist or do not exist either way"
That is the basis for being agnostic on the question.
However, it's my third point that then leads on to atheism... there's no compelling reason to even form the postulation in the first place.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Hitler was a devout catholic and Stalin was an ordained minister.

@supercute Atheism has nothing to do with shutting down any parts of the brain, neither does any religion for that matter. Certain religions to necessitate ignoring certain facets of science and other things, however, that doesn't mean one cannot use both their logical and creative parts of their brain, it is all how you choose to live your individual life.
I am a Catholic.

Hunkalove that's a gross overgeneralization.
Cinnamon · 31-35, F
Bhaavaa I have very good feelings for Lord Shiva as well. I would love to know more about your practice (on here or inbox).

@hunkalove. The answer is a new religion- not simple atheism. And a religion can be atheistic. Lots of common perceptual mistakes happen on this topic.

I'm Pagan, but not specifically Wiccan. Aphrodite is my guiding goddess.

@newjan- This has been successfully refuted over and over. The general public is just slow to catch on. The existence of God has been disproved.
ammoniascrubbertime · 46-50, F
Christianity, worship Jesus Christ our savior and messiah. Amen.
mrmistery · M
Most religions started out teaching about the fear of God...Hmmm I wonder why?
xKybax · 26-30, M
@hunkalove it's a pretty nice job of you ask me...

@Voyelle. Right on. Faith demands shutting down one side and common atheism demands shutting down the other. A new religion is coming that will appeal to the balanced brain. And it isn't related to Buddhism.

Religion was invented by the rich to keep the peasants in line

Non-trinitarian Christian.

Cinna, I don't think so. Religion is a gross over-generalization. More people have been murdered in the name of Jesus than Hitler, Stalin, and Mao ever dreamed of killing. Now it is Mohammed's turn.

I'm an agnostic actually, bit I'm more drawn to the Satanistic way of living really in that, they say it's ok to indulge yourself... (thinking about the Christian 7 deadly sins).
MasterLee · 56-60, M
Atheism is the lack of religion
