I made my journal posts public because I thought some of the answers I was finding, especially about my eating disorder, might help someone else. I closed comments because I have had very negative interactions on this site before. I have hidden them all now, and will be leaving this site again. Thank you for showing me that nothing ever changes here.
UPDATE- I have decided I will not leave. I have paid my money to be on this site, and even if I don't interact with others, and that seems to greatly bother some, I can be here too. After having the emotional meltdown that this question always induces, and withdrawling into myself for 24 hours, I have decided to stay. For those who don't like me blocking comments, please mute me, as one of the comments on this question has suggested. That is the perfect answer on how to deal with someone so different from yourself, that you just can't allow their words to be read.

@Journaling4Me Choosing to do what you want here doesn't bother me. I simply didn't understand why anyone does that here. You aren't the first person to ever to close comments, you won't be the last, I'm sure. So, since I wondered, I asked. I stated in my original post, "no insult intended", but it seems you took it as one anyway. I had, on one of the comments, stated that your posts were interesting and well written, which I found to be true. I have no idea why a simple question would cause you to shut down for 24 hours. So maybe what hasn't changed is how you view us - seeing everything as a negative interaction where there aren't any. 🤷🏼♀ Don't think I haven't been questioned about my writings here as well. It doesn't bother me. As this is a public forum, everyone has different ideas, opinions, experiences, points of view, and questions. That will never change, so we either roll with it or let this place get the best of us. 🤷🏼♀

I’m worse. I don’t understand why sone people even post. They put a thought out there and ask for an opinion or validation when in actuality they just want a consenting opinion.
If you ask for an opinion, don’t you inherently know that some people are going to differ? Why not tell me upfront? Why waste my time? Presumably others of us may have actually had the same experience and come out the other side.
If an OP doesn’t want responses, the post should auto delete. Otherwise you’re essentially forcing everyone to read your post for no reason as there’s nothing there that’s actionable.

@Adogslife Exactly. I've been blocked for giving the "honest opinion" the poster asked for. 🙄🤷♂
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@Tumbleweed Right? Furthermore, why even create a post, as an OP, that you know is going to elicit responses that are going to trigger you so badly that you need to block people?
Isn’t that counterintuitive? It’s certainly not cathartic. 🤔

@Adogslife I agree with you - why even post if honest opinions aren't wanted. Some people can't handle opposing opinions.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
As someone who posts and discusses topical, partisan, political posts, you want to have a discussion and then move on.
Closing the posts prevents snipers from coming into the post months later making obnoxious, and unhelpful comments.

It doesn't matter what you say, someone will interpret it another way and then comment to that effect, if you just want to make a statement without all the interpretive comments, then say it and lock it. I understand it.

@JamesBugman Thank you for being an understanding person. I honestly appreciate it more than I can ever convey with words. :-)
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@JamesBugman @Journaling4MeThere will always be someone who misinterprets things along the way. I was simply curious and wanting to understand.
Hopelandia · M
I've never seen that. I have seen people close their posts because the comments are turning nasty, that I can get behind.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Hopelandia I just read another one this evening and it promted the question. Interesting reads, comment worthy, but that option is turned off. It is a puzzle to me. But to each their own here.
Teslin · M
My thoughts. I often see posts that are 5-6-7 years old and still receiving comments.
Maybe they feel they should comment on the comment and don't want to anymore?

I agree im curious too
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Shybutwilling2bfriends Seems there are a few of us who are confused about it.
MrGrumpy · M
I haven’t come across such posts yet. I didn’t know it was even possible.
What I do find strange are accounts that have been here a while (years in some cases) but have no posts

@MrGrumpy
Typically these are alternate accounts from regular users that they use to spy on blocked people and triangulate on unsuspecting SWers.

@SomeMichGuy Yes. That's how it seems to me, too. It's confusing. I've gone to comment a couple of times, not realizing it was another by the same person who doesn't allow it. 🤷🏼♀

@SomeMichGuy Agreed.
Tumbleweed · F
I think the main thing is that they've gotten the answer they were looking for and it could also be that there were too many negative comments
Tres13 · 51-55, M
Hi LB,all good ?
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Tres13 Hello Tres. I'm doing alright. And you? Haven't see you here in a while.

LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@Tres13 All good things in your RW, I hope. 😊 Take care of yourself!

That one lady who block all comments always? I ended up muting her. If she wants no comments she should write in her diary imo 😅
OogieBoogie · F
Sometimes you get sick of replying.
Sometimes you have other posts open.
Sometimes you just dont wanna talk about it anymore
Sometimes the post has served its purpose
Sometimes its just so yesterday youve moved on
...so you close it so you dont have to be rude and not reply to people 🤷♀
Lotsa other reasons im sure

They certainly have a different idea of what this site is all about than I do.
@bowman81 the site ia splinter faction of a failed one world under technology attempt, the human engaging knows that besides myself there are no living beings posting here just an automated site as it's predecessor that will be shut down without live engagement fail this human doesn't choose Omnipotent figurehead characterSW, no sale that is a loss
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@bowman81 Me too.
rinkydinkydoink · M
It's of little consequence to me. For example, after some time has elapsed - maybe a couple of months - I'll mass delete all my posts. Why would I do that? Is there a reason? Who cares?
They use it to journal.
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@PromiseProtectionProvision Yes, you're probably correct.
StygianKohlrabi · M
I think it's because the post gets stale and people pop in like a month or year later forcing them to defend their views
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
@StygianKohlrabi That's as good a guess as any.
Confusion yes that con is in fusion mode that should stall the system

Just the system trying to silence logical input

@pentagrammom There is a scarcity of logical input for many here ..
@BrandNewMan well that's being filtered now
