What comforting memory always finds you on the quiet weekends?

Hmmm. Playing with my kids and dog when they were young....

Older memory, hhhm. Waking to my mother playing classical music while reading the Sunday paper in the living room. Getting her and Dad a new cup of coffee.

She would have gotten up early for the quiet from 5 kids. Pancakes or cheese toasties are piled high when we awaken. We all pile in to read Sunday comics, the Parade/Family weekly, Sports, etc.

We kids chat, fight over sections of papers, etc. Or just keep quiet for Mom and her record.

Staying with my aunties during the long summers. Watching them get ready for the Powwow. Learning how to cook and forage and track small game. Picking berries, especially. Roaming around with my cousins, floating down the river, getting in trouble for going too far out into the woods or caves.

I’ve tried very hard to recreate the same memories and magic for my kids.

Spending weekends with my Nanna and Grandpa. They'd take me fishing, crabbing, hunting and all kinds of outdoor activities. If not that, they'd have huge cookouts and I'd play with my cousins outside in the field.

Being at my grandparent's house growing up. Sitting on my grandad's bed, eating a snack and reading Calvin and Hobbes while the rain trickled down all the plants outside his window.

Tent camping with old friends. Some are gone now. 🥲

Sunday lunches with all our relatives.

Definitely the childhood years...

Unfortunately none my youth wasn’t that fun once I passed 10

Summers spent at the beach

Father barbequing enough meat for a regiment on Sundays, him drinking beer, his country music blaring, ...lol

Tripping out on acid while sitting on the side of huge sand hills, like we was Egyptian statues.
