I just bought stuff I needed to. Usually all I buy is stuff I need.
Your energy would be better spent encouraging people to support local businesses, mom and pop stores and businesses at risk of going under without customers.
This way, you're keeping more money out of shareholders' hands while feeding local families in your area. Remember, most start ups don't have greedy shareholders to please.

@HootyTheNightOwl But that's part of it. If you have to buy then buy local and small.
@Ynotisay I don't mean for just one day, though... I mean every day. This is the commitment that we, the people have to make to keep our high streets going.
Even big malls are starting to close and be demolished these days - so that should be telling.

@HootyTheNightOwl I think that's part of the goal. This is a first step. If people feel empowered by their shopping decisions they'll continue. I have a list of companies I won't give a dollar to. Maybe this is a jump start for more to start really considering how they spend their money and the power behind that.

Yes i have and for myself and a handful of other people and families our 24 hours will actually be extended longer ... till midnight Monday night.

It seems that the ones hurt most by such an action are workers barely making enough to scrape by.
Not my idea of thoughtful activism.

I didn't buy anything but just because I had nothing to buy.
Protests like this help just about as much as when a small child threatens to hold their breath if they don't get their way.

Some people think they are more important they they are. Nobody cares if you shop or not. more than likely everyone thats protesting went out yesterday and bought everything they needed for today.. So the companies still made money.
Ynotisay · M
I have. I'm not buying today.
What kind of gets me though is this was a GREAT idea that was executed poorly. The dude behind it is a joke. If they had their act together this could have been huge. But we'll see. Maybe it'll be more pronounced of a statement than I'm assuming.

Did not partake. And plenty of people were out also not partaking.

I spent about $3000 today.

Oops…I missed that memo

I feel we are too deep in the game for bare minimum activism.

I didn't do anything I wasn't going to do today anyway!
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
How does a 24 hour boycott help anything? If people don't buy something today, won't they just buy it tomorrow?
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
From interviews ive seen, the people have no idea why they are protesting
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
My not paying any attention to that.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M

Patriot96 · 56-60, C

@nonsensiclesnail I do not celebrate most holidays as it is. A person could go broke trying to revolve their life around all that.
I shop at target maybe once every two years. Not because they change their political stance every five minutes, but because it is an over-priced Walmart.

It’s a silly waste of time. Corporations measure sales by quarter. One bad day means absolutely nothing.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Hell no. It’s barely supported by a small sliver of dims.
