That's classic coercion and control. In the UK some of that behaviour is now being recognised as a criminal offence and you can be arrested for it. Don't stay with anyone who acts like that.

@MarbleMarvel the authorities here are still learning exactly what constitutes coercive and controlling behaviour. It's a relatively new problem they're beginning to recognise. But, at least it's now in the public consciousness.
