Dose anyone find social media helpful during a natural disaster?

i think its important people are able to show firsthand how catastrophic it is, to make up for where news outlets fail

For Hurricanes (flooding) Ryan Hall Y'all (thats his name on youtube😆) had two 12 hour live streams back to back showing what was going on where..Hes also sending aid to folks for the duration..not sure about earthquakes
