can you refuse a gift or do you just not open it?

if someone here sends you a gift can you send it back or you just dont open it?

You can send it back without opening it.
If you open it, the moment you open it, a message will appear on the screen of the sender to let them know you've opened it.

Yes you can! At the bottom of the gift message there's a little trash can. Press the trash can and the gift disappears.

yeah you can just delete it. i've done it a couple times for people i didn't want contacting me
