@SW-User no way!! Me too! And I got into Aquaponics this year. You’re neat.

@SW-User I built a computer controlled hydroponic setup that monitored and adjusted the pH and the atmospheric humidity automatically.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater woah I think you’re the master of hydroponics then lol. How would it adjust the ph?
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@Flenflyys I would just pump it from reservoirs of basic and acidic solutions. Had a little meter measuring the pH if it was too high it would pump acid and too low would pump base.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater but didn’t that result in over adjusting and just crashing the system requiring a full water change? I found it to be so much more than just adding ph up or down and I lost a lot of fish lo l

@Flenflyys If the solution was too strong it would over correct and pump acid then base then acid then base...Solved by using weaker solutions.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater ok maybe. It became far too sensitive. I had to cover the pond to reduce sunlight too. Which compounds did you use for adjusting? I did try more diluted solutions at first but I still ended up adding a lot more to get to where I wanted. I always had to reduce the ph too, never up. I used water from a river on my property.

@Flenflyys The acid was citric acid but I don't remember what the base was. I purchased them from a hydroponics supply store and were bright blue and orange, if that is helpful.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater sounds like ph up and ph down. I started with those and then tried a few other options that had like potash etc in them. I was even considering the ones for chlorinated pools, I read online those are ok too.
GlitterEater · 36-40, F
@Flenflyys Yeah, I think was them. Have you used a pH buffer? I'm not sure if they are used in hydroponics, but they help stabilize the pH so it doesn't change much even with additional acid or base added.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@GlitterEater I did use a buffer, I went through it very quickly every few days a bottle. If you’re around here next summer I’d like to reconnect with you for some advice lol.

@GlitterEater @Flenflyys What are you gals growing?
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@SW-User mostly veggies and some herbs.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
@SW-User what did you grow this year?
