I Have a Question

Why has feminism become so unpopular?
HeyLookItsGemma · 31-35, F
Because militant femi-nazis have moved on from fighting for things that actually mattered and turned the whole movement into a joke with their whiny, misandrist arguments and special snowflake demeanors :/

Real feminists who fight for the rights of people in third world countries where the oppression is real and extreme though are still popular. Its tough to justify feminism in the west when equality was reached quite a while ago.
GlassDog · 46-50, M
Because some people really don't want fairness and will do anything they can to keep things unbalanced, including making feminism seem like it's about man-hating or unfairness itself, when it clearly isn't. As far as I can see, the only people who are thinking rationally about the way the world should be are feminists.
Originalme · 26-30, F
I said men who mock feminism, I didn't say all men. Once again I'm pointing out that there is a difference between a feminist and a "femi-nazi". The problem is that people see this bad minority of women saying that men are worthless etc and they think all feminists are like that. People should definitely do a research and find out a true meaning of this movement.

Because feminist have become victim blaming, man hating, bullies and feminism is joke now. All the feminist whine about is petty shit like not going topless.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
I have actually never felt threatened by women having more rights. This is a fallacy. The problem some men have, not all, is that the women want more rights than men, which would be self defeating to their cause, and claim for equality.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@masterlee - no true feminist wants "more" than men... that is just usual nonsense spouted by men (some men, of course) who want to resist any progress. "Women want everything so we will give them nothing!" This is lame excuse to try to keep male hegemony.

Also, you do not seem to understand what a fallacy is. You say you have "never felt threatened" by women having more rights, but how do you feel if you must give up some rights so that women can have more?
Originalme · 26-30, F
Dolimyte there's a difference between feminists and ''femi-nazi's'' as people call them.
Originalme · 26-30, F
I can see it now,it is however labeled as an adult content.I'll read it and share my point of view. :)
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@originalme - i too see these things, but i think it is not coincidence that feminism is suddenly reported as "unpopular" just when it is beginning to make a real difference. There are no reasonable arguments against feminism, so it will be mocked! Men who do this (and some women, too) would have deep shame to be called racist, but think it is ok to be sexist. It is not women who make war between sexes, it is men who resist progress.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@dolimyte - for sure, some women hate men, just as some men hate women. But there is a difference between the hatred of the powerless and the hatred of the powerful. Men had the power to put their hatred (and fear) of women into action. Now that is exposed, it is more difficult for men. People who have power are not interested in equality, they give up only what they are forced to give up.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
People figured out that it was hijacked and not as advertised.
Originalme · 26-30, F
Yuliana now that you mention it, I've noticed that the majority of men who mock feminism are those who think that women having more rights makes them less manly, they are also making misogynistic jokes and always bringing up stupid stereotypes like "all women are good for is the kitchen" "women are weak"- which is so untrue because I'm stronger than most males I know.
Originalme · 26-30, F
@GlassDog Very well put!
Abrienda · 26-30, F
Because it became divorced from reality. It also became oppressive...like any other cult it wasn't for everyone/all women, just those who agreed to follow it's guidelines...if you didn't, even though a woman, you were the enemy. It trashed women who simply did not agree with it.

For example...Annie Oakley the great American shootist in the 1890's, believed women should be paid the same as men and should know as much about weapons as men. She did not believe women should have the right to vote. Was she a feminist? Or was she not cause she did not check all the boxes? There you have it...feminism as cult.

In the end it was all about enemies and consumed itself in spite and hate.
Originalme · 26-30, F
I know that feeling Rainbow xD
But I was talking about people who haven't blocked me. I can see their profile but not all of their stories. It's just a filter since my account is set to a non-adult content.
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@dolimyte - so you judge feminism by actions of what you admit is minority. shall we then judge all men by the actions of a minority of men, or do you think that would be a little bit unfair, maybe?
Yulianna · 22-25, F
feminism is not unpopular - it has just changed its nature as we make some progress. some men still resist, so we must find ways round them, let them think feminism is unpopular while we get on with our work.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
I am well aware of this difference. My point is these individuals have damaged the image of feminism, though they may be a small minority of that group
Original they probably have you blocked or you blocked them.. sometimes when I'm reading comments it's like the op is talking to himself lol.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
Because for a lot of people it was just a way to express a hatered of men. Not the path to equality it should have been
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Yuliana. You have to read into it a bit. Women realized they liked the things that went along with being a woman. And did not necessarily like being treated so equal as to loose their identity as women. Equality is not the same as feminist. But as with any change in society the pedulum swings past the point before settling. And women were tryimg to be treated as equals which they should but still as women
Originalme · 26-30, F
Yulianna,it is becoming very unpopular unfortunately. I read some article about it and it said that the number of feminists is decreasing and the term feminism is becoming very unpopular, it's a base for mockery even! I read a bunch of anti-feminism comments online and it really made me sad and concerned that I live in a society where things like racism and sexism are still very much present.
RisingVirginia · 26-30, F
Take a look at my post on feminism, and tell me what you think. 😀
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@glassdog - this is so right! thank you for saying it!
SW-User
Because men bitched and moaned about it too much.
Originalme · 26-30, F
For some reason I can only see 10 out of 12 stories and the story about feminism is not among them... :/
Is it maybe listed with adult content? I've noticed this on other profiles, it says they have more stories but it only shows me some of them. :O
Originalme · 26-30, F
Very well put Gemma!!
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
that would be unfair and im not judging anyone. i used to see myself as a feminist. I simply feel that a female centered movement is no better than a male centered one. I like to think of my self as an equalist
Originalme · 26-30, F
I'll try changing my account's settings and I'll see if that works! ^^
And no problem,I already liked your opinion on public breastfeeding so I might as well check this out ^^ :)

That's so weird. I'll try and figure it out! Thanks for looking though. 😊
Sueisright · 31-35, F
If you've blocked anyone or they've blocked you then you won't see there posts

I'm ok with making sandwiches for my man as long as he makes me coffee once in a while
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
Because women like the door being held open for them
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@axeroberts - is this how you define feminism?
