I Have a Question

I've always expressed myself better through writing, it's why I joined EP way back on Xmas eve of 2013. It was quite fun at first, started off writing down my innermost, deep thoughts the thoughts I felt I could not share with my rap life friends.
So it evolved from there, the problems started when I started private messaging.. How was I to know who I REALLY was talking to? The only way you are really going to know is if you ask for personal details and that can be very intrusive.
So what can you do? Exercise a little initiative.. Take a step back, I failed at this. I have learned the hard way. Fortunately I made 1 friend for I know to be true and a couple of others that I have had brief encounters with that have offered personal details.
But you only build rappor with a select few online. It's filtered that's the worrying side of using social media! Even the big boys such as Facebook there is room for abuse but they have the money and high end technical equipment to deal with such issues.
It's sad to say but I have been here time and time again deleting accounts and remaking them because it's a social network I became attached to for over a year. I have learned and gained a lot of knowledge of how Humans interact when they are outside of the 'norm' REAL LIFE.
Did you witness the panic when EP announced it was closing down? I found it alarming because we have lost sight of what is staring us in the face everyday of our lives.. REAL LIFE INTERACTION!
I sign in everyday mostly to have a catch up with the fun and share music mostly, I enjoy a little joke but within a month of being released SW has already had a taste of the abuse to come.. It won't end so the only way I can see as a solution is to educate people more on how to deal with:
* Threats
* Imitators
* Fraud
* Slander
* Grooming
* Bullying
* Addiction*
Addiction to social media is now a recognised condition but rarely gets spoken of. I think quite possibly I was at one point, I had asked over 14.000 questions on EP in one year. I have responsibilities in real life, I don't like mentioning that I haves family but due to issues online that happened yesterday involving a friend on here I was paying so much attention to that I missed my toddlers bedtime story and prior to that she lost a tooth - her first tooth!
I was online so I missed it.. This may seem trivial but we never know what is around the corner and missing milestones in my child's life like that made me question what the hell am I actually doing sat online where I have a toddler that is at an important stage in her life and she see's mummy on her phone as being more important than a tooth falling out.
Pure selfishness on my part..
I will now balance my life by way of taking myself away from social media and enjoy what real life has to offer.
I do not like witnessing bullying online especially when it is directed at a friend. I do not wish to be part of a community that is far too open to that behaviour.
More needs to me done similar worlds.. It's a great platform and you've worked hard that is obvious. But not all members will be mindful of others feelings and it can really effect some minds.
You have to take into account that most users will have signed up because they feel a void in their life somewhere.
Internet predators prey on the vulnerable, are you ready to tackle such situations with support? Because I emailed support about an issue but the reply I received appalled me. It was explained to me that private messaging is at their top priority.
It should not be that way.. Protection of minors and safety of all online using your site should be top priority. That is my opinion only but I know that some have voiced the same concern.
Now this is my last post here, not that I really made much of a contribution to the site but I will miss the few friends I interacted with.
In that note I would like to share a quote I feel it is fitting for a concluding note about human behaviours online and offline.
On the late afternoon streets, everyone hurries along, going about their own business.
Who is the person walking in front of you on the rain-drenched sidewalk?
He is covered with an umbrella, and all you can see is a dark coat and the shoes striking the puddles.
And yet this person is the hero of his own life story.
