WTF is a 'Message introduction'?

I keep getting these 'message introduction' pop-ups, and never have any idea who sent them or why.🤔

@dale74I fell in love with the print she had on her wall. I wish I could've saved it when she passed, but I don't know what became of it. It's easy enough to find on line though.
