If you're cool with how things are, then the status quo might be the better way to go. If she thinks you two can't date for some reason, then you're probably permanent friendzoned. If you want to go to the aquarium as friends, that's actually really fun. My suggestion with the new information is to apreaciate the friendship and enjoy each others company. Being in a romantic relationship is not a requirement to being human, and long periods of singlehood can be beneficial for spiritual growth.
