I see. Her parents aren't the ones that really matter in the long run. The ones who matter are you and her. If you think you can ask her out again without making it weird, go for it. There's a possibility that she's afraid you won't be her friend if a romantic relationship doesn't work out and doesn't want to risk it. Tell her how you feel with complete honesty. Even if she says no, if you express how you honestly feel you will feel better about the whole situation in the long run.
