Hello Doc,
I am a cat owner, while my Jude is an indoor cat she is very skeptical of people. I had always wished I could call upon a doctor for a house call. So that she would be more comfortable. She is overwhelmed by other animals on top of everything. I am not sure that this helped.

I think there should be a subscription-based vet care...like they pay a yearly fee and their cat gets maintenance and updates for a year.

@JarJarBoom That's an interesting idea, thanks. I think a lot of the big corporate clinics do that as well(like banfield and VCA)

@BeardedDoc I know they offer pet insurance like that but most of them don't include "maintenance" which I think is really important for a cat, but most people don't take their cat in because they feel its going to cost a lot

@BeardedDoc @JarJarBoom Human doctors are doing it to.

Maybe a discount. I don’t know. I brought my cat in and I felt like because it was a cat it wasn’t that important and it cost $265 for a poopie test and enema and parasite test. First cat ever. I don’t know what’s normal. Also had questions because she was feral and they thought I was a stupid cat lady. Went to another vet for another problem a year later and fecal test was negative so asked for vet to call me. I’m still waiting 3 weeks later. I don’t think cats are the priority. Anyway...congrats on your business! I wish you many successful years ahead! 🙂

No, they didn’t sedate her and maybe it is normal prices, I don’t know. I just wish they would have spent more time explaining cats and issues she had from being feral. Don’t get me wrong, I know time is money. I’m glad I have her. @BeardedDoc

@Keepitsimple That does seem like a high price then. And understood, seems like good communication and understanding is the more important aspect of the visit.

@BeardedDoc I think so. Like here’s what’s normal, here’s what to expect. Talk about diet and behavior.
PS..You can’t discount everybody, you need to make payroll and pay for the office. Lol

I take my cat to the vet every 2 years, indoor cat. I think that may be why you so not see many cats as the are indoor cats.
The service model is different for cats.
People do not want to drop them off.
Sedation is a mess
If the service model was walk-in, with the cat and I can stay with the cat, during the exam and treatments ... I would not only come in more, I would pay premium.

@questionWeaver Walk in can be hard, but what about appointments with your cat and you stay with your cat, and not a drop off?
Personally I only sedate a very few amount of cats, and those are the ones who try and kill me before I even do anything, otherwise almost all can be done without sedation.
I only take the cat away from the owner to get blood, as a lot of times the cats don't like that and the owners seem to hate seeing that, plus it always seems much harder to get blood from a cat with an owner watching over your shoulder.

Appointments are okay, but staying with the cat is important.
Not everybody wants to stay.
But, it is the ones that can not, that you lose.
The ones that want to stay, will pay a premium to be there.
Vet killed my cat 4 times with sedation and incorrect drugs, that was clerical and would have been avoided if I was there.
My cat allowed me, at the vet, under their instructions, to operate without sedation, to remove a feeding tube.
The vet staff refused to get closer than 6 feet.
