“I’m just sayin.” ~

More and more often, people are adding this line at the end of their posts, as if it somehow changes or blunts what they’re actually saying.

Is it just me, or do you think it’s an amazingly dumb and redundant expression?

If they weren’t saying something, they wouldn’t be posting, would they? 🤷‍♂️

When debating informally, I take it to mean "I have no answer to your last point so I'll just ask you to reread the ones I've already made and then maybe you'll get it. And p.s. I WIN! "

Rather off-putting, as it spoils a good exchange that might've ended in agreement, with both sides wiser than before.

@gailo Excellent point.

It just seems so mindless to me, which is why I posted about it.

@RedBaron It's similar to a person's raising their voice to repeat something a non-native speaker didn't understand. TURN! RIGHT! AT! THE! LIGHT!
