I had three, one passed a couple of years ago and another about a month ago or so. The other is a bit of a distance but not in the condition to be there as before, so I just try to be there for her to make things easier on her.

@MellyMel22 So sorry about your loss. 🤍

@arkod Thank you

@MellyMel22 so sorry.
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 Thanks, it’s better they both are no longer suffering.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 if so, yes, i suppose. No one should be made to suffer, there should be compassionate enough care givers to avoid actual suffering.
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 I agree. Unfortunately the first one literally suffered for days as everything shut down, they said they couldn’t do anything else but whatever they gave her.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 so sad. i hope they mostly knocked her out.
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 They have her what they said they could. She was moaning in pain most of the time.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 that is inhumane!
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 I told them that and they told me NYS says they can’t do anymore.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 I was a resident in NYS, we did more!
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 She was in a nursing home dying of natural causes as they say. Hospice told us over and over the place was right and couldn’t do more.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 well, i am not up to date with NYS laws, but, if the family agreed to it, we were very liberal with pain meds, even if it might interfere with respiration
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 She was already having trouble breathing, maybe that was why?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 still, even if she might not have been actually aware of her suffering, the relatives and staff were. I never would have allowed that.
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 It was horrible to watch, but she wasn’t alone
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 I bet. I was at the bedside for the death of my 100 year old mother in law. We gave her megadoses of Ativan as well as morphine. It was a "beautiful" death.
MellyMel22 · F
@samueltyler2 Sorry you both had to see that, but it’s good you were there and able to make it easier on her.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@MellyMel22 she had a great life and we made her death not as bad as it could have been..
