@Captain got married in 1960 , 1964 had 3 kids,,i was 23 my wife 20,, in 10 more yeares 1 more kid made 4, in 1984 mover to tennessee jobs every where we both got a job in 5 dfays, in 5 years bought house 5 acres, all down hill from there,

@jackrabbit10 Yes but thats the difference in America isnt it, there is upward mobility for the fortunate. Youd have to be a footballer to have that much money in the uK ! Anyway I wasnt fortunate and married older not young. Thats the other big difference.

@Captain my wife and i worked bought a house in the country houses were cheap at the time ,5 acres, she passed away 2024 every thing was paid for, I never married saved my money drive a 1996 ranger truck, paid for,dont make bill pay cash or do with out,,,,,frees you up,

@jackrabbit10 Wish we'd been in the position to do that but we decided to have kids - late in life (she was early 30s I was early 40s) and its turned out to be a disaster for us. Still you make your bed and lie in it.
