Holy moly Finland ...

Did you know speeding fines are determined by how much you earn ???

Ridiculous..
What would Elon Musk be paying if caught ?

Why is that ridiculous? A fixed amount means there effectively is no speed limit for people who can afford the fine without even noticing, and people who are struggling to get through a month without a fine get half a death sentence for the smallest mistake. Income dependent fines mean the punishment for the same crime has the same impact on everyone. Seems a lot more fair to me.

I think majority of people would disagree to this method of fining people
@scorpiolovedeep yes, I'm sure the people who could otherwise speed all they want for some spare change would hate it if breaking the law suddenly had consequences, but that's the point of limits and fines. They aren't invented to make people happy, but to keep them safe.

@NerdyPotato Exactly! 👏👏👏
@NerdyPotato in many countries there is also a points based system too, once you have too many points you are banned from driving
@CheekyBadger that helps a little indeed, though at least in the Netherlands that's only for new drivers. Once you have your license for 5 years, it can no longer be taken away for any number of minor infractions. And even then the rich get away "free" the first few times, and redoing their exam only costs them half a day.

@NerdyPotato Here there's the point system but all you need to say is "I don't know who was driving my car" and you get away with a bigger fine and no points reduction (sometimes preferable)

Of course only if it's a speed trap, if they stop you this doesn't work
