If social distancing and wearing masks work,why close business?
SW-User
@MrBrownstone For once, we're agreed. If everyone wore masks and followed the distancing guidelines, nothing should have been closed down.
SW-User
@MrBrownstone exactly
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@MrBrownstone Have you seen the masks worn by Covid-19 Nursing staff ?
Do they look ANYTHING like the rubbish people are wearing ?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Picklebobble2 Not What I asked
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@MrBrownstone It's EXACTLY what you asked !
And the reason it doesn't work is because the stuff that would actually help is being denied you.

You're being fobbed off by the fantasy that what IS available will keep you 'safe'
@MrBrownstone
Reason 1: because those measures reduce the risk of infection but don’t eliminate it.
Reason 2: it’s not possible to practice social distancing well or fully in all businesses.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Discotheque Those reasons never changed. So why close business?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Discotheque Social distancing is being followed in UK businesses.
ANY store you go to you have to queue. Wait at 6 feet distances from other customers.
Limited numbers in stores at a time.
@Picklebobble2 thanks, I’m aware , I’m English.
@MrBrownstone sorry I don’t understand your question? The reasons I gave in answering your question are reasons for closing businesses.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Discotheque But then opened up with those restrictions. So why not have them open the whole time with those restrictions?
@MrBrownstone I think the rationale for that is that initially the primary aim was to prevent the health service/hospitals being overwhelmed beyond capacity. With that achieved, and with the curve flattened, it was deemed reasonable to enter a new phase by easing some lockdown restrictions, eg opening more businesses.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Discotheque then social distancing and wearing mask don’t work
@MrBrownstone they are clearly an effective way of reducing transmission, which doesn’t mean they necessarily eliminate all transmission. The use of them helped flatten the curve, I don’t think anyone would seriously dispute that.

@MrBrownstone most businesses don't allow people to social distance....pubs, theatres, football, concerts and offices....
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Platinum they can limit the amount of people inside,like grocery stores
Platinum · M
Grocery shops are different from sport or concerts , to keep two metres apart it would cost more than they take ...but it will happen, they are talking about lowering it to one metre....this will fade out in July and in August we will mostly be back to a new normal@MrBrownstone
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Platinum nobody monitors distancing in grocery stores
Platinum · M
They do in all ours ,small shops only allow four people in at a time, large supermarkets are keeping people down to a minimum....by social distancing is up to the people...@MrBrownstone
@MrBrownstone you cant even tell plural from singular ya wanker
