@ReptilianFromPlanetCrush being from Delaware I only had a vague idea of what's out there 😂 there's nothing dangerous here except the people. I did have bear spray and knives, but we went to a nature center in NM where they had a rescue mountain lion and I had no idea they are actual lions, not like the bobcats that used to be here, they are mfing lions. And we were all up in their turf. We had a close encounter with a rattlesnake too...
Western NC gets real too. We did one trail out near Marshall I think it was where we walked up on a cave and I turned us right around.

@EldritchFox I went in some of the caves when I was in college and didn’t know any better. Good hiking around there. It’s beautiful. I don’t get out there nearly as much as I’d like.

Going down a steep rockface with smaller Alpine Fir trees growing through the cracks and crevices thinking I'll just use those as a hand grabs on the way down. First one I grabbed came out of the ground and I tumbled on down about 60 feet. Didn't break anything thankfully but had to limp out about 8 miles to my truck.

Yes, it certainly was. His child is now 20 years old and he messages me every now and then on holidays and such. When he turned 18 he found me on social media ,contacted me and asked why I left from their lives abruptly.

@Miram the kids get caught in the middle so many times. as i got older, i wouldnt introduce my kids to women i dated until i had been with them at least six months. and not even then, if i thought that it wasnt going to last. its not fair to them to build a bond and then have it torn apart.

It traumatizes them and makes them think they were the problem. His dad was serial dater and none of the break ups had to do with the child.
It was pretty unfortunate but there was nothing I could do about it except walk out and focus on my life. He is good kid regardless of his dad's actions.

I was naive and thought I could trust. Nope. Not at all. So, I just don't do that kind of thing anymore.
