Just awful

Housing in America is such a joke. So my mother has been renting a place for gosh 15 years and the house is completely falling apart. Because the rent has barely increased, she doesn’t want to move. And the house itself is begging to be done. It got hit by a tree a few months ago which broke the roof and the landlord is a slum lord. A roof insurer called her that, not even my words. But the roof leaks bad. BAD. And she sent a guy to patch it awhile ago. He said she’s a terrible person essentially because it’s dangerous. Well guess what… it’s leaking AGAIN now. She wants to do the same thing. The house needs to go. It really does. The roof is a disaster. Just alone. It’s dangerous to live in and honestly needs to be abandoned imo. But you can’t convince my mom that. I do live with her rn hopefully not much longer but we could afford something better. Right? But then I look at the price of rent right now compared to what this house -three bedroom/two bathroom (650 a month) is. And it looks bleak
