I saw a gated community for the first time yesterday. Why is it even necessary? It's like a fancy prison

I went with my bestfriend to the fancy area to pick up something he bought online off marketplace. He bought this nice shelving set anyways as we are driving we passed several gated communities. I was shocked because I've never seen one before and I just don't understand the appeal. Those homes all lack soul and look the same. Looks like a big fancy prison. Made me feel uncomfortable honestly. Just feels hostile.

I imagine it could be kinda nice.

You block out the world and pretend everything is pretty, and you can ignore the reality of what most people live in.

It'd be a kind of recluse. A sanctuary away from the chaos and fear that inflitrates everywhere else.

I mean....imagine it.
Your kids can play in the streets.
You know your neighbor isnt gonna break in while high, while youre gone....you can sunbake in your back yard and not get spied on or shot.

That's kinda attractive 🤷‍♀

@OogieBoogie Yeah I can understand all of that and it does sound pretty nice. I live in an apartment and while I'm quiet and keep to myself I hear other people's drama.
