Is this really how it is here?

I mentioned that my dad was always quick to choose physical discipline as a kid and my messages went crazy.. what in the world? I was explaining why I was no contact with my side of the family and thats all some people got from that.

Yes, it is how many freaks are here. Spend all day waiting in the shadows for their sickness crumbs. It's just as bad when people find it funny, it encourages it. I'd report those messages.
