I was discussing this the other day with my Son as HIS Son is about to hit secondary school (High school for our readers from other countries)
My son said he just hated the teaching methods during his time at school.
Teachers just seemed to have endless lists of things to get through and any pupil struggling was just either ignored or sent to what they called the 'educational needs' unit where they drew pictures or concentrated on 'pastoral care' rather than exploring the problem.

My friend is a teacher and she mentioned this to me:
Kids seem to be much more interested in politics.
They have troubles with attention and struggle to stick to one activity for a prolonged time.
Apart from that, I'm certain IT and tech support is incomparably more advanced.
I doubt they still have those nasty heavily damaged desks we had but I'm not 100% sure this applies to all the corners of the country. 😅

Some of my nieces go to the same school. It seems more diverse since i was there which definitely helps them

I had open lunch at school every day for my high school career. I didn't eat a single day in four years at that dungeon. Now the campus is pretty much on lockdown.

Well... my high school is gone now... they demolished it.
The clock that was the school logo is also gone to who knows where - despite the building it stood on still being in use as an adult education centre.

Metal detectors, didn't have those when I went to HS and closed campus for safety.
