why are mens perfume always so strong and heavy?

it feels very suffocating.
meanwhile women perfume feels very soft and light.

or is it just me that feels this way?

I haven't worn cologne in a long time, so I wouldn't know anything about that. At the time I did wear it, there was no complaints. Just some men put on more than they need to
