Not sure if this is what you have in mind, but here are some things my wife and I regularly say to each other, which require recognizing the song, story, or incident we are alluding to:
"Unlike the rest of you squares."
"A bagel!"
"The soup of the soup of the soup of..."
"She didn't SEE it!"
"Not good enough!" [said with a generic European accent]

@ThePatientAnarchist A bagel can be turned into minecraft blocks, which explains the squares. But your wife ment bagel as in the same universe as soup: aka is it a salad or soup.
Basically, she wanted to know if a bagel is salad or soup.
The "not good enough" is your wife telling you your argument isn't valid.
