People in our neighbourhood have been putting up boxes and making their properties generally more welcoming to migrating swifts for the past two years. This evening the sky is alive with hundreds of swifts swooping and diving for insects, so that project has been a success.

Blackbirds just sound inherently joyful (and a bit boastful, telling each other how many worms they've eaten that day or how many bits of fruit they've persuaded their local tamed humans to give them). You can't not smile listen to them - blackbirds are like sunflowers, but in song.
