Michigan just instituted a cage free chicken law the effective the first of the year. The price of a dozen large eggs jumped from $3.39dz to $4.49. If you can get them at all. 4 years ago they were $1.19/dz and you could find them on sale for $0.99.

4.49 for medium 5.49 for large 1 dozen store brand
all the way up to 10.49 for name brand caged free humane blah blah blah

Close to $5 now.And the large sized eggs are actually medium eggs, this is quite common in the winter months.

Brown cage free eggs yesterday were $6.99. Same as last week.
