I really wish I wasn't stuck paying a fee for a journeyman's license

For a career I never want to work in again ..

As an HVAC mechanic ...

But , just in case my current career tanks and its my best option for earning potential , I don't want to be without that fallback ..

And these licensing bureaus have never done me any favours ,,, i really owe em nothing ..
.
Bleh it's just a rant ..don't pay me any mind ..

This is will be one of those 1 heart smile posts at best. . .. Like throwing a sad dog a bone ..

Care to share why you didbt like the hvac? I have a son who will be starting school for that soon so that’s why I’m curious.

I actually liked the career ...

It was challenging , didn't have to work in the office , a lot of independence and not hand holding , I am mechanically inclined to repair things broken , pay is pretty good ..

Why I didn't continue ...

Wear and tear on the body ....I would walk into a supplier and find out the guy next to me , who looked 10 years older than me , was 10 years younger , but worked in the field twice as long ...

You are on call a lot as a service mechanic and I realized that I I wanted more time to spend with my family ...

It can be a really toxic environment condition you are working in ...don't let him slack on safety respiratory gear ....carbon paeticles, using toxic chemicals , mould ...lots and lots of nasty to deal with ...

But that's me....thing about HVAC is , you learn so much about a few trades, plumbing , electrical , steam fitting and your skills are transferable ..

Hope this helps

Feel free to reach out , if you have any other questions ...

Just a side note ...

The best mechanics are the ones that apply themselves , the school helps a bit , but the stuff you learn in the field working is much more valuable and respected by colleagues .. It's best he starts working in the field and apprenticing as soon as possible ....

well, what happens if you let your license expires? you cant just pay to renew it later?
BobbyMoeven · 51-55, M
@Penny

If I let them expire ,

It will require doing exams again ...or a lot of hassle getting them back proving qualifications ...and continuing to work in the field under s different umbrella
.

And don't want that ...
