An old earth? Evolution? Logically? Really? This is a smart man!

Great Video.

@jackieash .. and where do you think Science came from? Who gave such knowledge of pursuits?
jackieash · 26-30
@Iwillwait Man wondered about how things work long before giving any thought about any god.
Iwillwait · M
@jackieash It is true however as we advance in our intelligence, then the inherited knowledge of the fact/feeling there's is something far greater than "Man," responsible for all of this and that's where you'll see the answers being sought as to Who is our Creator?

This is like something out of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

@JimboSaturn absolutely the same logic at work!
@robingoodfellow not just Michael Palin, but Philomena Cunk as well

IKR?

Like how it’s not just wind, but also water and cold that contribute to arch erosion and eventual collapse. 😱@JimboSaturn
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@AbbySvenz and perhaps tectonics, and changing winds and current patterns and redistribution of land other places, sea level, and rock instead of sand. The author could have easily looked these things up.

The attempt to read the oldest part of the Bible as a science text, with Greek-influenced minds, is an innovation.

His examples don't account for the variability of, say, erosion, and he is looking at a time when the climate has been in flux (more energy + more water = more erosion of coastlines). He is also unaware of geological processes.

Most sadly, he is unaware of consilience--multiple lines of evidence converging on an older Earth and and even more ancient Universe.

May I suggest that you not focus on the Bible being literal, but focus on the underlying spiritual truth it gives to you.

Matthew 24
3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

4 Jesus answered: [c=BF0000]“Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many.[/c]

@Carazaa So? Jesus didn't say that believing in an old earth is the work of the devil. He did mentioned that the word of God should be written in your heart, it's not literal stories, it's the meaning, the ideas.

@Carazaa Talking snakes can be taken literally? Really?
Richard65 · M
Cunk on Earth does this much better and much funnier.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Richard65 I love that show!

Endogenous retroviruses demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that humans and chimps had a common ancestor that was neither human nor chimp. Evolution is well demonstrated. God is a mere hypothesis

@Carazaa Faulty comparative fallacy. Read about fallacies of logic please.

Is this guy a parody account, or is he actually trying to be serious?!

WTF does erosion have to do with the age of the planet?!?!

If you want to invoke the great flood / Noah's Ark myth, that in itself is an unwitting acknowlegement that the surface of Earth has changed over time, and has at different times had more and less liquid ocean present. He even acknowledges again that things change over time by mentioning a supercontinent.

It's amusing as well because I'm guessing this is the kind of person who 6 days of the week denies climate change and rising sea levels — UNTIL he thinks he might could warp it to prove the Earth was only created last Thursday, and somehow sidestep the rest of the significance of rising sea levels.

If you think this is a smart man, you are precisely the opposite of smart (along with him).

Jesus, Earth is doomed, doomed by anti-science idiots.
