Ever find out a useless factoid that makes you say "I never knew that"?

I just found out that the word "bar" as it pertains to an establishment where you go to drink, actually comes from the original name of "Beer and Alcohol Room", which over the years became forgotten about.
Pirates were british and freed slaves "good day mate" "arggg mateyy" see? And the pirates hated the slavers so they would always attack them and free their slaves some would stay and some would be dropped off in europe

It also stands for "places you go to get hit with a bar". Establishments like, saloons, strip clubs, poolhalls, etc. Where you end up behind bars. You get the picture. 🤣

The Conservative brainiac William F. Buckley's third language was English. I googled him for some reason and found out he first learned Spanish and then French.
