SWeeps from”small town USA”?

Any SWeeps who have been to a rural US State, or have been in a small “country” town, do you REALLY see night skies like these? I’m only used to big cities with light pollution. 😔

What is it like in a small town? Quiet? Peaceful?

Even in a small town, the street lights will block out the light from stars.

I have been out in the country and seen the sky loaded with stars, but those photos are time lapse photos. The camera can gather more light than the retina of the human eye can, so the photos reveal a lot more.

Even up in the mountains, where I have seen some spectacular skies, I have not seen star clouds like that.

@DrWatson altitude as well helps! See the video I posted. Most of Colorado is over a mile in altitude in addition to the lack of light.

Less atmosphere is why. No clouds, no fog, no smog, nothing to interfere.
